Artist's Statement

This series was unintentional. It evolved over a time when all my senses were put to the test. This series was an escape valve, a way to communicate when speech was almost impossible.

When I fought breast cancer 3 years ago, I caved into the one thing I know best --- my art.

This is me, down to the core. These are my friends, the Potatoheads. These little characters portray my deepest emotions, my days in fear, my moments of sorrow, gratitude, happiness, my fight for life, my path of healing and how I found strength.

Every brush stroke, every drop of paint, glitter or found object has a purpose to me, gives meaning to my painful trial.

This is my truth, myself opening up to you…
