Last year, over 1,600 children and adults in Pinellas County sought help at Suncoast Center, Inc. to begin the journey from being a victim of sexual violence to becoming a survivor. Suncoast Center presents ART HEALS, a powerful exhibit featuring artwork created by survivors of sexual violence. The event takes place during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, on ArtWalk Night, and in partnership with several of St. Pete’s artists and arts organizations. Local artists have worked with survivors on several pieces and a few of those artists will also be exhibiting their work. The artwork provides an intimate window into the pain and healing found along these survivors’ inspirational personal journeys of recovery. The community is invited to experience this FREE exhibit and reception honoring the artists and the cause.

Partners and participants include:
  • Brian James Gallery Photography photographs survivors in a “Dear World” format as they share their messages with the world
  • Carrie Jadus Fine Art & Portraiture helps several survivors create paintings depicting their journeys * A piece by Carrie Jadus will be exhibited *
  • Creative Clay artists will have their artwork featured as the organization’s mission is about art’s ability to heal
  • Grand Central Stained Glass & Graphics helps several survivors create stained glass pieces depicting their journeys
  • Morean Center for Clay helps several survivors create clay pieces depicting their journeys * Morean Center for Clay pieces will be exhibited *
