The Empowered Voice: Female Artists Sharing Songs and Words of Strength

The Studio@620 welcomes Conpiracy Productions as they present "The Empowered Voice" on Saturday October 16, 2010.  The evening will feature female artists sharing songs and words of wisdom and strength, in honor of domestic violence awareness month.  Concert begins at 8:00 PM.  Admission $20

 Enjoy an evening of song as some of the best Bay area vocalists share some of their favorite Jazz, Musical Theatre and Opera lyrics highlighting 'women of strength'. You'll hear new favorites, classic  standards and new original songs and spoken word too! Featuring Jayne Trinette, fresh from her highly successful Lena Horne Tribute concert at American Stage. Also featuring Eileen Sanders who just closed RESPECT: A Musical Journey of Women at the Straz Center. Other local favorites performing are Colleen McGrath, Lauren Gemeli, Tia Jemison & Stephanie Roberts. Proceeds benefit Conspiracy Productions, a brand new theatre company in the Bay whose first play is Extremities, a psychological thriller by William Mastrosimone. The concert and play are being staged in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October. A PORTION OF ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO LOCAL ABUSE & DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CHARITIES! Extremities opens October 28th at the Silver Meteor Gallery in Ybor City.

About the Performers

Colleen McGrath- American soprano Colleen McGrath has appeared as Gilda, Baby Doe, Valencienne, Zerlina, Le Fée, and Romilda. She has premiered new operas by Jay Anthony Gach and James Holland, among others. She has sung with companies including San Francisco Opera, Utah Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, American Lyric Theater, Ash Lawn Opera, Opera North, Bronx Opera, Opera New England, and Bangkok Opera. She made her Lincoln Center debut in 2006 with the Little Orchestra Society of New York. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and Boston Conservatory, Ms. McGrath currently resides in Florida, but she continues to commute between New York and St. Petersburg. She studies voice with Ruth Golden and acting with Marc Verzatt, and works with a number of talented coaches in New York and Florida.  

Jayne Trinette- Jayne is a highly accomplished singer, songwriter and actor from Tampa seen on Broadway and National Tours of The Lion King and Caroline, or Change. Other regional credits include Ain't Misbehavin', Smokey Joes Cafe, The Wiz and Little Shop of Horrors. Last fall, she also starred in American Stage's smash hit Fences.  

Tia Jemison- A 2010 graduate of USF, Ms. Jemison is already an accomplished singer, musician, spoken word artist and actor. You may have seen her on stage in Tampa in Bees in Honey Drown with Stageworks Theatre and Einsteins Dreams with Jobsite Theatre. "Music is Life! Please support the arts!"

Lauren Gemelli- Bio: Lauren is honored to be a part of this important evening. Originally from Massachusetts, she has performed across the US and around the world, most notably on national tour of the Tony Award winning musical, "The Drowsy Chaperone." She graduated summa cum laude with her BA in Theatre and Criminal Justice from Manhattanville College in 2007. Stephanie Roberts-  Stephanie Roberts has two great passions...travel and performing.  Her talents include both singing and acting and have taken her around the world seeking international performing experiences. Ms. Roberts is an accomplished actress & singer, and is proud to have made her home in the Tampa Bay area for over 2 decades.   

Eileen Lymus-Sanders- Holds her B.A. in Elementary Education from North Carolina Central University . While attending college, she sang in both the concert and touring choirs, performed with their drama department and was active in a local children’s theater group. Eileen performs with many local production companies including Doreen Collier's EventShow Productions and Heartfelt Inc. out of Winter Park Florida . Her theater credits playing Effie in Footlight Theatre and Liz Stewart Productions runs of Dreamgirls, BJ in Smokey Joe’s Café, Sonja in MAD Theatre of Tampa’s The Life and most recently performing in RESPECT – A Musical Journey of Women at the Straz Center . She performed with the band JBE as a vocalist along with her sister, Gaetana, and performed in KATONGA, Dance to the Music and Christmas From the Heart at Busch Gardens-Tampa. Eileen is married to Demetreus E. Sanders Sr.

Sara DelBeato- A native Floridian, Ms. DelBeato  is an accomplished vocalist and has had the great opportunity to work throughout the nation in clubs, theatres, concert halls and festivals. She is well trained in all styles of music, including favorite genres such as:  Jazz, Musical Theatre, Pop and Rock. Ms. DelBeato has performed in favorites such as CATS, The Secret Garden and Little Shop of Horrors and is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association.

Diana Vytell has delighted audiences on two continents, whether singing with the New York Philharmonic or  in an intimate cabaret like Rose's Turn in New York.   In March, this eclectic singer/actor will be performing her cabaret show at the American Stage Theatre in St. Pete. Diana's last fundraiser was for the Women's Resource Center in Sarasota, where she performed her cabaret show, Possibilities.
