Harlem in Montmartre

Part of the Harlem Renaissance Initiative

The Studio@620 and The Museum of Fine Arts collaborate to bring you a special evening film screening of "Harlem in Montmartre" on Friday February 15, 2013.  "Harlem in Montmartre" tells the story of the musicians who left America to create the jazz age in Paris between the First and Second World Wars. This remarkable performance- driven documentary features the stories and music of such key figures as Josephine Baker, Sidney Bechet, Django Reinhardt and more.

The evening begins with a reception and introduction before the film and will include a discussion with the film's Executive Producer Charles Hobson.  The film was awarded the Best Documentary Prizeduring the 2010 International Pan African Film Festival, 7th edition, in Cannes, France.
