Day in Solidarity with African People

Presented by the Uhuru Solidarity Movement and the African People's Solidarity Committee

The Uhuru Solidarity Movement and the African People's Solidarity Committee are excited to invite the Tampa Bay Area community to the  "Day in Solidarity with African People" event entitled "The Truth About Racial Injustice, How White People Can See the Future Through the Eyes of the Oppressed", to be held at Studio @ 620 on Thursday, October 11th, 6:30PM.

“Day in Solidarity with African People” is an international action and fundraising campaign culminating in events in San Diego and Oakland, California, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, St. Petersburg, Florida and Warsaw, Poland.

This event will feature keynote speaker Omali Yeshitela, the Chairman of the African People's Socialist Party, founder of the Uhuru Movement. Born in St. Petersburg, Yeshitela's leadership has inspired Africans around the world who are struggling to regain control of their lives and destinies.

The event will also feature Penny Hess, Chairwoman of the African People's Solidarity Committee and author of "Overturning the Culture of Violence."

During a time of profound economic and social crisis, attendees will have the opportunity to hear a perspective of the world "from the eyes of the oppressed" and discuss such critical issues as police brutality, poverty, mass incarceration, the education system, and why it takes more than fighting racism to resolve racial injustice.

The evening will also feature refreshments and hip hop performer Bella. Please visit www.uhurusolidarity.org for more information about the Day in Solidarity with African people international campaign and events. For more information, contact 727-683-9949, [email protected]
