Bosikom: Songwriters on Songwriting

An Evening of Songs by Nicholas J. White with selections from the American Songbook

Come enjoy an evening of music with Nicholas J. White as he celebrates the art of songwriting with selections from his own songbook as well as a catalogue of songs by such diverse artists as George Gershwin, Hank Williams, Paul Simon, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Rivers Cuomo and other greats of the American song catalogue. Sunday, December 27 at 7:30 PM.  All seats $15.

Songwriters on Songwriting:

In the tradition of great composers such as Franz Schubert, George Gershwin, and Leonard Bernstein, White along side writing classical music is also an accomplished artist in the realm of the popular song.  The concert will feature songs primarily from his upcoming solo EP How a Cookie Comes Together, scheduled to be released later in the month, and will focus not only on the music but on how songs are created from the first notes on the guitar, to the lyrics, and through the recording process.  In the spirit of his previous (however more classically laced) concert, the title Bosikom, the Russian word for “barefoot”, is an evocation of the formally informal – a way to bring people and music together without the necessity of elitist language or separation.

“Music shouldn’t be formal and funereal, requiring black suits and bowties; it should be for anyone and everyone at anytime.  All people can understand and enjoy music, even if all they can surmise is whether or not they like it.  Kick off your shoes and come enjoy the modern incarnation of the world’s oldest art.”         -Nicholas J. White
