A Night of One Acts

Plays by Samuel French

The Studio@620 will end its 2009-10 theatre season with a premiere night of one acts by local playwright Samuel French, the drama THIS ONE NIGHT IN THE WAREHOUSE and the dark comedy WRITER’S BLOCK, running June 3 thru 6 at the Studio@620.

THIS ONE NIGHT IN THE WAREHOUSE follows the story of Brett and Aaron, two average strangers locked together in a warehouse and forced to choose which of the two of them should die for the unknown crimes they have committed. This startling ethical mystery stars Matt Huffman (HAMLET) and Chris Jackson and is directed by Bob Devin Jones (ROMEO AND JULIET).

WRITER’S BLOCK is the dark comedy that will leave audiences gasping in shock and laughing in the aisles at the same time. Aleck is a children’s author who has become suicidal due to his inability to write a book for his insensitive agent and friend, Danny. Attempting to overdose on pain medication, Aleck hallucinates a visitation by the spirit of Dr. Seuss, who endeavors to remind Aleck why he wanted to write children’s books in the first place. This charming one-act stars Huffman (Danny), Jackson (Aleck) and Nick White (ROMEO AND JULIET) as Dr. Seuss.

“We are very proud to end our first full season of programmed theatre at the Studio@620 with these two very exciting one-acts by Samuel French,” said Bob Devin Jones. “Samuel definitely proves the rule true that incredible writing talent can be inherited (Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Tom French is Samuel’s father).”
