The Florida Orchestra and The Studio@620 present the fourth season of "An Intimate Collaboration".
Each performance in the series will include musical and theatrical elements connected by a common theme. All events begin at 7:00 PM at The Studio@620, doors open at 6:20 PM. Reservations are accepted by phone at 727-895-6620 as seating is limited. Suggested donation of $10 payable at the door. March 7, 2013 "Harlem Renaissance"
As a prelude to The Florida Orchestra's Raymond James Pops "A Night at the Cotton Club" events March 8-10, we present a preview : “An Intimate Collaboration: Harlem Renaissance” on Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m., exploring this era in American jazz. Guests include Florida Orchestra Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik; trumpeter Byron Stripling; tap dancer Ted Louis Levy; saxophonist Valerie Gillespie; jazz pianist Billy Marcus; bassist Perry Orfanella; and trombonist Buster Cooper.
Bob Devin Jones will read poetry of Langston Hughes and Nate Najar will perform some music by Duke Ellington on guitar.
