Program Overview

Mark E. Leib, theatre critic for Creative Loafing in the Tampa Bay and Sarasota areas, is also a playwright whose drama Art People had a three-week run last December at the Off-Broadway Players Theatre in New York City. His other plays and adaptations have been produced at the Manhattan Punch Line, American Repertory Theatre, and Singapore and Edinburgh Theatre Festivals. Leib’s criticism has won four awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, including the statewide Sunshine State Award for Critical Writing. Leib teaches drama and screenwriting at the University of South Florida, and various writing, theatre and film related courses at the Eckerd College PEL program. He is a graduate of Yale School of Drama (1980), where he won the CBS Foundation Prize in Playwriting.
