Home Ties

Exhibition by Judith Salmon with works on canvas, paper and special installation in collaboration with Rachel Stewart

Program Overview

Paintings on canvas and paper evoke memory through a visible archeology of surface and imagery - layered, fragmented, concealed or revealed. The use of symbols such as the boat open up these work to wide interpretations, and specific conditions which inspired them give way to a universal sharing.  This exhibition will ask and provoke thoughts on the meaning of home. What are the aspects of home which we always take with us? What changes in the space which is defined by migration, loss and separation?

Judith Salmon, working with friend and colleague Rachel Stewart, will create an assemblage to explore similar notions of journey, time and memory. Judith, working with mixed media on canvas and with hand built forms using string, clay, wood, and paper will explore memory by using language, and by pulling on the icons which reside within. These are the ties to home.
