To usher in the New Year, 13 poets will reveal how their identity constructs the world around them, and how the world engages back with them. Not all that glitters is gold, and there are many smokescreens and false flares in life. So,how do these poets know what is true and untrue in their communities, the cafes they frequent, or in the tv shows they watch, and lastly in ourselves too?
“Smoke and Mirrors”, what is real, and what is an illusion.
"Smoke and Mirrors" is a showcase of local poetic talents who met as friends at Keep St Pete Lit’s monthly Poetry Open Mic held at The Studio@620.
Orchestrated under Miesha Brundridge, author of "A Beautiful Disaster", the poets perform seasonal shows that reflect changing forces in the world and in their own lives. Some poets rap furiously, some present cool as clouds, others act in their pieces, and others speak plainly, allowing your imagination to fester.
