Pay What You Can
Katee Tully and Helen Levine
The Studio launches a new monthly play reading series, co-produced with Erica Sutherlin and Fanni Green. The first installment will feature "GIDION’S KNOT" by Johnna Adams
The setting is a middle-school, parent/teacher conference. The subject is Gidion. Both mother and teacher seek answers: “Why was Gidion suspended?” “Why did he commit suicide?” The two collide as they try to untangle the knot of freedom of expression, bullying, and responsibility. Directed by Fanni Green
As a series, "Say! What?" will strive to bring plays and people together as a way to promote community and culture. The series will introduce little known plays and playwrights to a broader audience as well as give an opportunity to re-visit some well-known works. All plays will be presented with the anticipation that it will provoke discussions around the relevance, and resonance of the play to the community.
