RTP Live honors Black History Month with a special performance on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at 7 PM. Join us for the world premiere of the radio play, “Natchez Trace”. Former slave, Ned Forest, played by Studio@620 Artistic Director Bob Devin Jones, recounts a tale of fire, terror and murder when he and his companion escape from bondage. They spend nights on the run with their owners and dogs in vicious pursuit. Special guests include Margo Hammond and Paula Barco, along with RTP Ensemble members Leroy Mitchell, David Warner, Jim Wicker, Bob Heitman and Jacob Barrens. The play is written by Jeremy Simmons, whose research was informed by real places and names from the 1857 Natchez, Mississippi, fire. With Matt Cowley’s expert sound effects and sound design, it promises to keep you on the edge of your seat, while you experience that not so distant time in American history.
