The late Jose Yglesias chronicled the Ybor City Cuban American experience in numerous novels. WAKE was his first, about an extended family in conflict over the impending revolution in Cuba. Join us for a dramatic reading of this stage adaptation and participate in a post presentation discussion. Set in 1958, a Cuban American family is torn apart by a murder, a tragic death, and intense disputes over the Cuban revolutionary movement.
The cast includes well known actors David Mann, Bonnie Agan, and Richard Di Pietra. Lisa Powers Tricomi directs. Co-adaptors Calandra and Fernandez are a playwright and history scholar who have written and produced/published work related to the Cuban experience.
