RE:VISIT AND RE:PRINT

Activist design collaborative ras+e returns to Florida

The Studio @ 620 welcomes Ryan Shelley and Elizabeth Herrmann, the activist design collaborative ras+e, as they create and install a new exhibition designed specifically for The Studio@620 which will open on Friday September 28, 2012.  RE:VISIT will include a variety of photography (cyanotypes, silver gelatins, digital prints), cardboard prints, prints on muslin, posters... even some works printed directly on the walls in select areas and suspended from the ceiling. Additionally they will present a hands on printmaking workshop on Saturday September 29, 2012.

Opening reception will be held Friday September 28, 2012 from 6-9 PM and will be free to attend.  Artwork will remain on display through Friday October 5 during gallery hours, 12-4 PM (closed Monday).

Workshop + Presentation: RE:PRINT

Instructors: Ryan Shelley and Elizabeth Herrmann (ras+e)

RE:PRINT is a one-day studio printmaking workshop. The workshop focuses on alternative print methods and specifically, printing with cardboard forms. Emphasis is placed on encouraging the use of common and found materials in a post-print design world, the idea of presentness, and why physicality is important in a landscape of assumed pixel noise. We will discuss the evolving role of print and physical means in relation to Designers as Artists.

Perfect for students interested in generating a small edition of prints or a few custom T-shirts (or other textiles). The RE:PRINT workshop provides the opportunity to create a portfolio piece for anyone interested in a more personal approach to screen-printing. Attendees will need to provide their own shirts or other textile items to print on if desired.  Ink, paper, and other supplies will be available for use.  Workshop fee $40 per person.
