Foundations of Yoga

The Studio@620 invites you to journey inward with the Foundations of Yoga, a six week series of yoga classes presented by ShahRam. The emphasis of these classes is on the purpose of practicing Yoga, and the most important breathing techniques that has been part of almost every eastern mind and body practice (Yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong, Zen, Taoism, Buddhism, Kung Fu, Hapkido, Aikido, and….) for over thousands of years. Proper Posture practice, properly  incorporating the breath and gravity  in to different postures, the ways to meditate and to prepare to meditate, using sound and vibration to enhance your meditation experience.

These classes are for everyone regardless of your level of practice, if you are a beginner this is a great way to build a strong foundation for your wonderful journey, and as a more experienced practitioner you will develop a deeper understanding of the roots of your practice.

About ShahRam

Classes are taught by ShahRam, a well experienced Yoga teacher who started his spiritual practice at an early age.

Born in 1962 and grew up in a family that meditation, philosophy and poetry was part of the daily life. He started practicing Yoga and martial arts and Qigong in the early 1970’s. He has 6th degree black belt in Hapkido, and studied several yoga systems (Hatha, Bhakti, Kriya, Amrti Yoga, Kashmiri shaivism). He studied and trained under Dr. Girish Jagardar, which took him to the caves of Himalayas to continue his training.

ShahRam has been teaching Yoga and meditation to all ages (ages of 5 to 101) and levels since 1986 in India, Europe, and Canada.  As well as the US Military National Reserve Guard and in the Tampa Bay area since 1994. He continues his practice with his wife and children. He believes to be healthy first we must have a healthy mind.
