“The work selected for Folk Art: Florida, Up South, and the Rest of America features primarily representational art—the landscape and images of people. Some of the images represent places in time, individuals, dreams and/or fantasies, or special events. All deal with some aspect of the human condition.”    

Jeanine Taylor Folk Art Lecture

Florida and Contemporary American Folk Art: lecture presentation by Jeanine Taylor founder and Director of Jeanine Taylor Folk Art. The gallery is located in Sanford Florida and is widely considered one of the ten best places in America to learn about and purchase Folk art. Jeanine will have examples of work by artist living in Florida and beyond.

Dramatic Narrrative

“FOLK” with Jeff Klinkenberg: an ensemble of local actors will present dramatic narratives based on stories in Klinkenberg’s books; Seasons of Real Florida and Pilgrims in the Land of Alligators. After the presentation the Studio will host a Q + A with the author. Books will be on offer. Jeff is an award winning, long time features writer for the St. Petersburg Times. His articles have been nominated six times for the Pulitzer Prize.

Kirstin Congdon Folk Art Lecture

Slide presentation on Folk Art around the state of Florida, with UCF professor of Film and Philosophy, Dr. Kristin Congdon. Dr. Congdon is an award-winning author, Uncle Monday and other Florida Tales, director of the UCF Cultural Heritage Alliance, and recent President of the Florida Folklore Society. She is currently working on a two – volume book on folk artist in the United States.
