An Evening with Bob Egan

Enjoy an evening of authentic, original music with singer/songwriter Bob Egan.

The Studio@620 welcomes singer/songwriter Bob Egan for an evening of authentic, original music.

About Bob Egan

Talk about a life of change……  Bob Egan spent a decade in academia, six years as a corporate consultant and six years running his own firm before leaving it all behind to pursue a life of music.

A conversation with Johnny Cash convinced Bob to leave the real world and get on Wilco’s tour bus for a grueling, non-stop, two-year tour of the world.  The highs were plentiful – performing on the late night talk shows, meeting and performing with childhood heroes, playing sold out shows in historical venues and recording the Grammy-nominated record of lost Woody Guthrie lyrics.  It was a dream come true.

When the Wilco dream ended, Bob moved to Mississippi to begin his solo career as a singer/songwriter, a career that has taken him to Norway, Australia, Italy and Canada and has spawned three and a half critically acclaimed records.

This exposure led to an explosion of studio work and recording with artists as diverse as Billy Bragg, the Cowboy Junkies, Neko Case, Hayden, Jon Langford and Jars of Clay.  Bob has been averaging forty studio recordings a year ever since and has a shelf of awards to show for it.

He was lured to Canada a decade ago to join the musical institution Blue Rodeo and the highs, once again, have been plentiful – opening for the Stones in front of 400,000 people, playing for Canadian troops in Afghanistan and playing at the 2000 Sydney Olympics to name a few.  In 2008 Blue Rodeo won Juno awards (Canadian Grammy awards) for album of the year and band of the year.

Despite Blue Rodeo’s busy schedule Bob plays an average of 50 shows a year, spreading his songs and his legendary stories from coast to coast and abroad.
